Surfing photographer, other Texas artists lend talents to ‘Have Camera, Will Travel!’ art show

CORPUS CHRISTI — When world traveling surfing photographer Jon Steele heard that Corpus Christi was voted the “Fattest City in America” by Men’s Health Magazine in 2010, he decided to make a change and give back to his community.

His contribution: “Have Camera, Will Travel!” an ongoing series of film and art collaboration between him and other Texas artists.

The film and art show will be on Saturday at House of Rock. Proceeds will be used to help start a Junior Lifeguard program in Corpus Christi.

“The program started in California and I thought it would be a great program to have down here,” Steele said. “

Transformers Masterpiece 12 Sideswipe

Awesome news for Transformers fans all over the world. Megan Fox is back for Transformers 4 lol, but no really Takara have released concept art for Masterpiece 12 which is going to be a G1 Sideswipe.

It’s a surprising new turn to for Takara as it seemed the next twenty Masterpiece transformers would be G2 Jet repaints, thankfully Takara are going back to where it all started and bringing back a whole new G1 figure.

Going off previous Masterpiece toy release dates it looks like it will be available in most online stores and ebay by December with a limited release coming in November.

The scale of Masterpiece Sideswipe is probably going to be on the 1:24 Alternator/BT scale to fit in with the rest of the recent MP releases.

Niche No More: Survey Shows Tablets Are Everywhere

A new survey indicates that 29 percent of American adults now own a tablet computer and/or an e-reader. That number went up 11 percent in just a few weeks, a sure sign that the gadgets were given as holiday gifts and have reached the point of mass acceptance

CORPUS CHRISTI — One of my art assignments in college required me to use pen and ink to create an image. As part of my role as an artist, I also wanted to enable viewers to see differently.
