Spanish guitar, flamenco dance open classical guitar society concert season
Guitarist John Alvarado’s earliest musical expressions were in the realm of rock and pop. By the time the Indianapolis native reached high school, however, he’d grown enamored with the possibilities — and risks — of the classical guitar.
“With a classical guitar, it’s literally you, a box of wood and six strings,” Alvarado said. “There’s nothing to hide behind. It’s kind of a very pure musical expression, and the player can either do it or he can’t.”

It’s with sad news that we report Amy Winehouse was found dead today in her London home. Police found the musician dead before paramedics arrived on scene. She was 27 years old. Winehouse rose to stardom in 2006 after the release of her album Back in Black, a mix of jazz and pop, became a world-wide sensation. The musician took home five Grammy’s for the album and she quickly became one of the hottest icons in the industry. Unfortunately, Amy’s talent was overshadowed by drug use and eating disorders.
