People: Spider-Man dies in Marvel Comics release
Spider-Man is dead.
Sort of.
In this week’s edition of Marvel’s “Ultimate Comics Spider-Man,” the web-slinging, wall-crawling alter-ego of Peter Parker dies in the arms of his longtime paramour, Mary Jane Watson.
What kills him? Sources reveal the tragic end comes shortly after he is cast in a troubled Broadway musical titled “Spider-Man: Look Out Below!”
Ha ha! Of course, that’s not what happens. Actually, he dies after an epic and heroic battle with arch-nemesis the Green Goblin.
But fans of the web-slinger shouldn’t get too choked up over all this. First off, the Marvel Ultimates imprint is separate from other Marvel series, meaning that what happens to Spidey in the Ultimate series has no bearing on Marvel’s “Amazing Spider-Man” series. Yes, there are two Spider-Mans in two different worlds, and they never meet, meaning that all that stuff that Einstein was talking about with parallel universes and black holes and whatnot is probably true.
Also, there’s the Spider-Man syndicated cartoon, and the movie franchise is getting a reboot, with work already started on the 2012 flick “The Amazing Spider-Man,” starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone . And rumor has it that Garfield and Stone are totally making out in real life, so there’s that to think about.
