Eddie Murphy Withdraws as Oscar Host
Academy Award-nominated actor Eddie Murphy has withdrawn as host of the 84th Academy Awards. “I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well,” said Tom Sherak, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President.
Earlier today, Brett Ratner submitted his resignation as a producer of the 84th annual Academy Awards after coming under fire for an anti-guy slur. Ratner, the director of movies such as “Rush Hour” and “Tower Heist,” then issued an open letter to the entertainment industry in which he explained his decision.
Commented Murphy, “First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking

Bugg-Levine, Antony. Impact investing : transforming how we make money while making a difference. Jossey-Bass, 2011.
This afternoon (Tuesday, December 6) at 4:00pm, the Fuqua School’s Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship is presenting the 2011 Leadership in Social Entrepreneurship Award to Antony Bugg-Levine, CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund.
Bugg-Levine is also author, with Jed Emerson, of Impact Investing, a new book that describes how for-profit investments can help address social problems. In Impact Investing, the authors outline a set of investment strategies that generate financial returns while intentionally improving social and environmental conditions.
Instead of viewing management of financial assets as a tradeoff between social and financial results, the authors show how investors can take an integrated approach, generating a blend of values of shareholders and stakeholders alike. I

Going into Hugo, you may not know much of what the film is about. The trailers have been nebulous, merely showing the titular boy and a world full of clocks and gears, and that’s definitely intentional. You see, Hugo is about dreams come to life, and like a dream, you’ll be sad when it’s over.
It’s almost embarrassing for the rest of humanity how talented a director Martin Scorsese shows he is with this film. It’s an absolute delight, a truly “all ages” movie, and it will capture your imagination from the very first scene. The story, based off a book by Brian Selznick tells of an orphaned boy with a knack for fixing things, and how he helps all the people around him find their purpose in life while also finding his own.

Michael Tomasky This is Herman Cain!: My Journey to the White House by Herman Cain Jim Cole/AP Images Herman Cain, Concord, New Hampshire, November 17, 2011 If one momentarily puts to the side his wildly extreme political views, his obvious and cringe-inducing knowledge gaps, and his alleged treatment of women, one can easily find things to admire in Herman Cain. Certainly, he does himself in This Is Herman Cain! It opens by describing how he “redefined campaign history” with his performance at a Republican debate last May, an event hardly remembered today; and it closes with Cain imagining what his first days in the White House will be like, taking the measure of heads of state, sifting through résumés, and mulling appointments.
